Cheekie: Haiku Superstar

As you may know one of my best buddies in this urban wilderness known as the internet is the ever-foolish Cheekie of the super fun blog, Pinch My Cheekie.  She is my partner in crime/inspiration for  some of my shenanigans on this blog and on our group Tumblr blog See What They Had Said: Questionable Quotes.  Anyway, I said all this to say that I would like to celebrate the haiku that Cheekie blesses us with frequently from the Word of the Day series in honor of National Poetry Month and just because I want to.  Just like I ended that sentence with a preposition, because I can and I am a grammar thug.  Who wan’ test?  Wait, what was I talking about, oh yeah Cheekie’s haiku prowess!  Here are some of my faves:

Cheekie

High Priestess of haiku, word of the day, and shenanigans. #fact

Maiden Precious, who
gormandized that bucket of
chicken like a pro.

(word of the day: gormandize – to eat gluttonously or ravenously)

Libidinous girls
on “Maury” grow up to be
Black Friday’s Lil’ Kim.

(word of the day: libidinous – full of sexual lust; lustful; lewd; lascivious.)

Young, jejune fellas
approaching a lady does
not include, “Aye Guhl!”

(word of the day: jejune – Naive, simplistic, and superficial)

What if a chair was
fecund? To make little ones
for folks to have seats.

(word of the day: fecund – Producing or capable of producing an abundance of offspring or new growth; fertile.)

In the world of tunes,
“Face Down” by Prince is very
procumbent, ain’t it?

(word of the day: procumbent –  Lying face down; prone; prostrate)

How can you not love this chick???!!!  Easily? Oh. -_-

All Words EVERYTHING!: guerdon

As you all know I am a big ol’ nerd. The bigest part of my “nerddom” is my love of words and reading. I thought it would be fun every day that (Monday-Friday) we should learn a new word or brush up on some old vocabulary we may have forgotten. I will present a word with its definition, then we will try to write the silliest most ridiculous sentences you can come up with. Foolishness and learning are a match made in hell heaven. Some days I may even write a silly haiku with the words. Please join in, I promise it will be loads of fun.  So all my fellow nerds and clowns enjoy today’s word, by the way it doesn’t have to be silly….:

guerdon

PRONUNCIATION: (GUHR-duhn)
MEANING:
noun: A reward or recompense.
verb tr.: To reward or recompense.

coffee cartoon

Coffee, the utimate guerdon!!! Viva la caffeine!

my haiku:

How I love coffee
It is indeed my guerdon
For early rising

Rain dancing….

drought

quenching needed...

When I had been whacked with the woe of wicked writer’s block I got rid of it by writing about it, it seems counter-intuitive, but it worked. Stranger things have happened… enjoy:
Writer’s Block Haiku
(1)
Drought stealing my reign…
Are brainstorms in my forecast?
How about monsoons?
(2)
I have writer’s block
It challenged me to dig deep
Pen becomes shovel
(3)

I’m digging, I swear
But dry ground is hard to break
Time for sledgehammers
Feel free to add your own haiku as well!
