Yes, surprise, surprise, I am a nerd.  I am attracted to other nerds.    I happen to be sexy too.  (If you don’t agree, I will insult you with words you have never heard of let alone pronounce. ) In fact, I never saw what was so appealing about being a “cool kid”.  Seriously, what fun was walking around wondering what everyone thought of you.  Now that I look back I had way more interesting teenage and young adult years than my “regular and/or popular” counterparts.  Simply put, nerds rock.  Here are some of my nerdy idiosyncrasies that make me generally awesome.  You don’t think I’m awesome? No? Oh.

Scrabble. is. life.  Er’thing else is just details. word. <— (see what I did there?) I love Scrabble.  No, I don’t think y’all understand, my Scrabble game is not a game.  (Wait, what?)  Y’all get my point, I am extra nice with Scrabble.  I was part of a Scrabble club for about 4 years.  Yes, a club.  We met every Sunday at this real “granola-ish” restauraunt and played Scrabble for hours and sometimes high ranking Scrabble players from the tournament circuit would stop by to join in. Yes, it is that serious.

In fact you should read the book “Word Freak” by Stefan Fatsis.  It is all about the Scrabble subculture, awesome book!  i bet you had no idea there was a subculture of Scrabble dorks.  See, I be teaching y’all stuff.  YAY, me.

I am actually a nerd who did not care for school.  It is not that I dislike learning, but I don’t like learning in the classroom.  I enjoy doing my own research.  In fact, I go crazy when looking up stuff, I get all obsessive and twitchy. (I am sure part of this is mental illness, but I’m alright with that.)

I would totally look up the word research and all of its synonyms,and then try to use them all in a sentence, poem, and conversation in the same day.

I have been known to be on Wikipedia and other various sites all day because I got caught up researching something and everything associated with it.  One day I suddenly became obsessed (for no reason at all) for where all the common sayings originate from.  For example, one day I was wondering where did the phrase “kick the bucket” come from.  Yes, i do wonder about these things *shruglife*.  This is what I found out coutresy of the “Wick of pedia”:

A common theory is that the idiom comes from a method of execution such as hanging, or perhaps suicide, in the Middle Ages.^[3] A noose is tied around the neck while standing on an overturned bucket. When the pail is kicked away, the victim is hanged.

f*cking fascinating.  So the rest of the day I looked up idioms and phrases used  in the English language with interesting derivations.  It was a rather enjoyable day.  hey, it’s the little things.

Okay, maybe I am a weirdo in addition to being a nerd... but I'll take that too.
